Moving Mountains – Nature writing workshop/writing the body

Saturday 25 Jun

This workshop is a free, drop-in event. It will consider our physical connection with nature/place.

After two years of lockdowns, experiencing social isolation and illness, this workshop will draw on those experiences in considering what we have taken from these difficult times. It will offer a space for reflection as well as new perspectives to draw on, as we experiment with writing about the human and the more-than-human world around us.

Moving Mountains is an Arts Council England supported project that, for the first time, brings together nature writing with people living with chronic illness and physical disability. The funding enables us to produce Moving Mountains, an anthology of 22 commissioned writers and artists, alongside a programme of workshops running throughout 2022, connecting with nature, literary and disability organisations. Louise Kenward is a writer, artist and psychologist who developed and initiated Moving Mountains after co-producing Disturbing the Body, an anthology of women’s writing about when our bodies fall from under us, published by Boudicca Press in 2021. Published in Women on Nature, Echtrai, The Clearing, and Elsewhere, Louise is currently Writer-in-Residence at Rye Harbour Nature Reserve with Sussex Wildlife Trust’s Heritage Lottery funded project Discover Rye Harbour.

Louise can be found @LouiseKenward and @Instability_Env (Twitter) and she also runs ZebraPsych, a project aimed at raising understanding and awareness of energy limiting chronic illness @ZebraPsych
