Using specimens collected from Boldshaves Garden, Hope Fitzgerald began to use the cyanotype process directly on bookcloth for use in binding her handbound books for the Wealden Literary Festival in 2019. In her programme interview as Artist in Residence, Hope said, “The residency has created an environment in which ideas and plans are able to take root and begin to flourish. I expect I will feel the legacy of this for some time to come.” That legacy has grown into Bindfulness.com, the online home of thoughtfully made handbound books, cards, and design. Hope also runs Bound in Faversham, a regular bookbinding and social meeting group, and leads workshops in bookbinding near Faversham in Kent.
