Writing & Photography Competitions

In each competition, there are three age categories; (1) Under 13 (2) 13-18 (3) 18+. The theme for this year’s writing and photography competitions is:

Wild Things

Writing competition:
All entries will be judged by one of the Festival’s acclaimed authors.

Your work can be in any style or form (whether prose, poetry, nature diary or other) but should be limited to no more than 500 words.

Photography competition:
All entries will be judged by Hope Fitzgerald, Wealden Literary Festival artist-in-residence for 2018.

Prizes – Adult competitions

1st prize – a weekend pass to this year’s Festival
2nd prize – a day pass to either day of this year’s Festival
3rd prize – entrance to an event of your choice at this year’s Festival

Prizes – Primary and Secondary School Competitions
1st prize – a handmade prize by one of our exhibiting makers
2nd prize – two books of your choice from the Festival bookshop
3rd prize – a book of your choice from the Festival bookshop

Entry Details
Winning and selected entries will be published on the Wealden Literary Festival website.
The deadline for both competitions is 1 June 2019 and prize winners will be announcedshortly afterwards.

Photographs to be submitted as jpegs with file sizes of between 500Kb and 1.5Mb.
Entries to the writing competition to be submitted as a Word Document.
